The first event of the "Ningbo Digital Future" series of forums & the Artificial Intelligence Industrial Development Summit Forum held in Ningbo

In order to implement the 'No.1 Development Project' for digital economy innovation and improvement, and promote the development of our city's future industries and artificial intelligence industry, the first event of the "Ningbo Digital Future" series of forums & the Artificial Intelligence Industrial Development Summit Forum, co-organized by the Ningbo Municipal Economic and Information Technology Bureau, the Ningbo Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the Ningbo Municipal Digital Economy Bureau and the Eastern Institute for Advanced Study, was held on April 17.

More than 160 people, including Zheng Weimin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chen Shiyi, President of the Eastern Institute for Advanced Study, and other industrial experts and entrepreneurs, were invited to participate in the first event of the "Ningbo Digital Future" series of forums to discuss industrial development. Among them, there were also leaders of relevant departments at the district and municipal levels and representatives of some scientific research institutes and universities, relevant enterprises and industrial associations participating in the event.

The rapid development speed, wide coverage, and profound impact of the digital economy are unprecedented. What is the direction of the development of the digital economy? How to plan the layout of future industries? With these questions in mind, at the event, Chen Shiyi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of the Eastern Institute for Advanced Study, came to the point that "vigorously developing the artificial intelligence industry and promoting the deep integration of artificial intelligence and the real economy is an inevitable choice for Ningbo to develop the digital economy, promote digital reform, accelerate industrial optimization and upgrading and improve the city's energy level." Chen Shiyi has high hopes for the development of Ningbo's digital economy. In his opinion, Ningbo needs to integrate across borders and promote industrial development through application. "However, Ningbo still has a long way to go in order to seize the highland of AI industry, realize cross-border integration of digital technology and socio-economy, and promote regional industrial competitiveness. In particular, the emergence of artificial intelligence applications such as ChatGPT and ERNIE Bot has made the integration of AI and the real economy much more possible." Chen Shiyi suggested that Ningbo pay attention to the combination of artificial intelligence and manufacturing, improve the level of intelligent manufacturing, and accelerate the construction of intelligent production lines, digital workshops, and intelligent factories.

At the event, Zheng Weimin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor of the Tsinghua University, gave a speech on the calculation balance design of artificial intelligence computers, large-scale artificial intelligence computing power benchmark evaluation software, and the training acceleration method that designed and realized the super large pre-training model with millions of parameters. Chen Xilin, Director of the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, proposed his own views and suggestions on how to construct AI models and train AI models to embed knowledge in the models through recorded broadcasting. Zhang Dongxiao, an academician of the National Academy of Engineering in the US and Executive Vice President of the Eastern Institute for Advanced Study; Li Shipeng, an academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences and Head of the Low Altitude Economy Research Center of the International Digital Economy Academy; Huang Feng, Co-chair of the Baidu AI Cloud Product Committee and General Manager for industrial energy product R&D, and other industrial experts also made keynote speeches on the development of the AI industry.

During the round table dialogue, experts exchanged ideas and had discussions on the development of the artificial intelligence industry in terms of computing power, scientific research, big data, and so on, and also put forth suggestions for the development of artificial intelligence industry in Ningbo. At the same time, an appointment ceremony for the Expert Advisory Committee of Ningbo Digital Twin (Eastern Institute) Research Institute was also held during the event, appointing experts of Zheng Weimin, Chen Xilin, and Cui Ping and so on as members of the committee. For the next step, they will play a better role of expert think tanks and assist in relevant scientific researches and industrial development decision-making.

This forum is the first event of the "Ningbo Digital Future" series of forums. In the future, a series of activities will be carried out focusing on future industrial development, and cutting-edge trends in new technologies, etc., so as to help Ningbo plan the layout future industries and seize development opportunities.
