The Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technological Development Zone selected as a typical case for National "Waste-Free Parks"

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China jointly announced typical cases of "Waste-Free Parks" and "Waste-Free Factories". The "reduction cycle plus digital supervision of petrochemical industry waste-free park model" of the Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technological Development Zone was selected as a typical case for National "Waste-Free Parks", one of the only 9 throughout the country.

Developing circular economy and strengthening the comprehensive utilization of industrial resources is a major strategy and a necessary path to achieve comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development, and an important way to promote ecological civilization construction and achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. In recent years, Ningbo has actively implemented the full cycle concept of source reduction, process control, and terminal utilization of industrial solid waste, deeply promoted the construction of a green manufacturing system, established and improved the mechanism for cultivating green and low-carbon factories at the district (county, sub-city), city, provincial, and national levels, accelerated the full coverage of green transformation of industrial enterprises above designated scale, and promoted enterprises (parks) to strengthen the comprehensive utilization of industrial resources and create waste-free enterprises (parks). Over the past three years, the comprehensive utilization rate of general industrial solid waste in our city has remained above 99%.

The Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technological Development Zone aims to build a first-class "petrochemical base" in China, with the Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company as the leader. It will incorporate upstream and downstream member units of the industrial chain into the community management, build the first "waste-free petrochemical base" in China, and actively promote green, low-carbon, waste-free and high-quality development.
