Our city's semiconductor sputtering targets and force sensors industrial clusters been selected as national characteristic industrial clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China issued the "Notice on the List of Characteristic Industrial Clusters for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in 2024" (MIIT Enterprise [2024] No. 267), and two industrial clusters, namely the Yuyao Semiconductor Sputtering Target Industrial Cluster and the Jiangbei Force Sensor Industrial Cluster, were successfully selected.

Since the launch of work for the promotion of characteristic industrial clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises, the Ningbo Municipal Economic and Information Technology Bureau has focused on the "361" trillion-yuan level industrial clusters, strengthened overall planning, provided precise service guidance, and tailored training programs, and has cultivated a total of 6 national level characteristic industrial clusters for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The two selected clusters have clear leading industrial positioning and strong core competitiveness, and are in a leading position in the national sub sectors. The Yuyao Semiconductor Sputtering Target Industrial Cluster is mainly engaged in ultra-high purity metal materials, core equipment, and key components for semiconductor targets, mainly applied in advanced manufacturing fields such as integrated circuits, aerospace, electronics, medical care, and new energy vehicles, etc.. As of 2023, the cluster's output value exceeded 10 billion yuan, and the cluster boasted 42 high-tech enterprises and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, 1 national level single product champion, 1 specialized and innovative "little giant", 18 PCT international patent applications, and 316 valid invention patents. Multiple research and development institutions have been established and 26 well-known research institutes have been introduced. The Force Sensor Industry Cluster in the Jiangbei District, Ningbo City presents an overall layout of "one core and multiple points", with the force sensor industry as the core for multi-point distribution, gathering excellent platforms of small and medium-sized enterprises, colleges and universities, and research institutes to jointly form a force sensor industrial base. In 2023, the total output value of the cluster reached 10.602 billion yuan, and the cluster boasted 104 small and medium-sized enterprises, 57 high-tech enterprises, 13 outstanding small and medium-sized enterprises, 5 specialized "little giant" enterprises, and 3 single product champions of the manufacturing industry. Over the past 3 years, the number of valid invention patents has exceeded 300, with over 400 invention patents per 10,000 people.

For the next step, the Ningbo Municipal Economic and Information Technology Bureau will aim to promote the development of small and medium-sized enterprises towards being specialized and innovative, further promote the characteristic, specialized, and collaborative development of clusters, continuously enhance the core competitiveness of clusters and the resilience of industrial and supply chains, and help promote new industrialization and cultivate new productive forces.
