7 Studios in our city recognized as Provincial Heritage Classic Industry Inheritance and Innovation Studios 2024

Recently, the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Zhejiang, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Finance, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism announced the List of Zhejiang Heritage Classic Industry Inheritance and Innovation Studios 2024. Seven studios from our city have been selected, covering three industries with profound cultural heritage and local characteristics, namely wood carving, root carving, and Yue Kiln Celadon.  

For many years, our city has placed great emphasis on the inheritance and innovation of heritage classic industries. Wood carvings with gold paint, bone-inlaid wood decoration craft, root carving, and Yue Kiln Celadon have all been listed as national intangible cultural heritage items. Among them, wood carvings with gold paint and bone-inlaid wood decoration craft are primarily concentrated in Yinzhou and Fenghua, boasting 1 national-level master of arts and crafts and 9 provincial-level masters. Root carving, hailed as the "living fossil of Chinese root carving art", has 1 national-level master and 10 provincial-level masters, mainly based in Xiangshan and Ninghai. Yue Kiln Celadon, a treasure in the history of ancient Chinese ceramics and revered as the "Mother of Celadon," is renowned for its lustrous glaze and elegant forms. It has 5 provincial-level masters, primarily located in Cixi and Yuyao.  

For the next step, our bureau will implement relevant decisions and arrangements of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government to foster and promote the inheritance, innovation, and development of heritage classic industries. We will further strengthen the preservation and advancement of traditional craftsmanship, encourage cross-industry integration and innovation, and explore new business models and market opportunities.
