The Promotion of the “Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Opinions on Innovative Development of Manufacturing Metrology” & the “Deep Dive” Event on Empowering Enterprises with Sci-Tech Achievements Held in Ningbo

On September 16, the Promotion of the “Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Opinions on Innovative Development of Manufacturing Metrology” & the “Deep Dive” Event on Empowering Enterprises with Sci-Tech Achievements was held in Ningbo. Gan Xiaobin, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China; Jiao Zhifeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the CEPREI; and Wang Yidong, Director of the Ningbo Municipal Economic and Information Technology Bureau, attended the event and delivered speeches.

The event, themed "Metrology as the Foundation • Ningbo Embarking on a New Journey", aimed to thoroughly implement the important decisions and deployments of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on promoting the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry, fully leverage the leading role of metrology in enhancing the core competitiveness of manufacturing, and accelerate the transformation of sci-tech achievements into real productive forces.

In his speech, Deputy Director Gan Xiaobin stated that metrology serves as the "eyes" and "ruler" of industrial production, forming the foundation for precise manufacturing and high-quality innovation. Regarding empowering industrial development with sci-tech achievements, he proposed three pieces of suggestion: First, promote the output of high-quality achievements by encouraging collaborative efforts across the industrial chain, involving both large enterprises and SMEs to accelerate the output of high-quality industrial sci-tech innovations. Second, implement precise supply-demand matching by identifying the pain points and challenges in enterprise technological innovation, facilitating precise connections between supply and demand, and smoothing the channels for empowering industries with sci-tech achievements. Third, accelerate the supply of public services by enhancing resource openness on industrial technology basic public service platforms, and leveraging the bridging role of relevant industrial associations and alliances to serve regional innovative development.

The event featured three main segments, namely document promotion, experience sharing, and achievement release. During the document promotion segment, the Metrology Center of the CEPREI introduced the drafting background of the "MIIT Opinions on Innovative Development of Manufacturing Metrology" and provided an in-depth interpretation of the document. In the experience sharing segment, three experts delivered speeches on how metrology empowers high-quality industrial development. The achievement release segment included insightful exchanges by the CEPREI, the Ningbo University, the ZEISS China, and the National Graphene Innovation Center on the transformation of sci-tech achievements. The event attracted approximately 150 participants from government agencies, metrology technical institutions, enterprises, and media.

The successful hosting of this event established a platform for exchanges and cooperation on the innovative development of manufacturing metrology and the transformation of sci-tech achievements. It will help promote the widespread application of metrology in manufacturing, accelerate the transformation of sci-tech achievements into real productive forces, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of Ningbo's manufacturing industry. In the future, all parties will continue to strengthen cooperation, jointly explore new paths for the innovative development of manufacturing metrology, and help Ningbo's manufacturing industry gain new advantages in global competition.
